The “Ugliest” Town In Montana Gets An Unfair Reputation
They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I suppose this is true because what others might see as beautiful, you might see as an eyesore, and vice versa.
So I was a little taken aback when I came across an article that described the "ugliest" city in each state. The folks over at Shareably decided to travel across the United States and pick the ugliest city or town in each state and then highlight them.
So which Montana town received the crown of the ugliest in the state?
Well, before we reveal which town is the "ugliest" in the state, let's take a look at the list of "Trashiest Towns and Sleaziest Cities" in Montana.

It won't come as a huge surprise to many Montanans, but according to the article, the ugliest town or city in Montana is Butte. Someone stated the following when describing this historic town:
"A place that embodies the smell of stale beer, urine, and dirty ashtrays."
Granted, the town of Butte has seen better days, but let us not forget the significance this iconic town has had not only for Montana, but the world. Fondly known as "the richest hill on earth" Butte was instrumental in building America.
Sure there is the Berkley Pit which is not the most attractive site, but what about all of the historic architecture? As you travel around uptown Butte, you can see an absolute diamond in the rough. Many of the buildings are stunning and with a little TLC, could be brought back to their former glory.
Plus, you have things like Our Lady of the Rockies, The World Museum of Mining, The Montana Folk Festival, the oldest Chinese restaurant in the country, and who does St. Patrick's Day better than Butte, Montana?
Then there's the people.
Any town that is home to Evel Knievel has to be tough, right? The folks of Butte are honest, hard-working, and tough as nails, and that's not a bad thing. I dare say that Montana and the rest of the country would be better off with a little "Butte Attitude" every once in a while.
So for all of those "dissing" Butte, there's a salute for that.
