Bring your chairs, blankets, and dancing feet to the Bozeman Public Library Plaza for the last time this year! The Day On The Green Summer Concert Series will wrap up on Sunday, August 28, 2011 with the second tribute concert to Jerry Garcia by popular local band the Hooligans. This free outdoor concert is sponsored by the Library Foundation and will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on August 28th.

Formed in 1990, the Hooligans are Bozeman’s longest running roots rock/americana/blues/jam band. Inspired by jam bands of the San Francisco scene as well as early folk, blues and great rock’n’roll, the core band members have been “gigging” together since 1982. The current lineup has been intact for about two decades and includes Rich Robiscoe on bass, Tom Garnsey (Capt. Vootie), guitars/vocals, Betsy Wise/vocals, and Ron Craighead, drums/vocals. Special guests often include Tom Murphy on mandolin and vocals, Stu Allen, and on occasion Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne.

Needless to say, this final FREE concert is a do not miss! Over 400 people attended the first ever Day on the Green last summer with the Hooligans and were regaled with great, rock, reggae, blues and Americana tunes from artists such as Bob Marley, Muddy Waters, John Hiatt,  Grateful Dead, Traffic, Dylan, Hot Tuna, Van Morrison and The Band. The set also allowed for plenty of spirited jamming throughout.

This concert will also provide food vendors from MacKenzie River Pizza, Not So Famous BBQ, and the Italian Ice stand, as well as Lindley Perk being open inside the Library for coffees and other treats.
