As I was looking at the upcoming football schedule and having lived in both Missoula and Bozeman, I certainly took notice and circled November 20th on the calendar.

Montana State at Montana.

One of the oldest rivalries west of the Mississippi, Bobcat vs Griz, well it doesn't get much better than that. Throw in the fact that they've been doing it since 1897, that equals generations of fans getting together and cheering on their beloved teams.

On the line, the Great Divide Trophy, which is one of the coolest trophies out there.

The trophy has been around since 2001. Each year the winner of the game keeps the trophy until the next year and at the end of the 21st century, the team with the most wins, the trophy becomes theirs forever.

The two schools have met over 100 times and Montana leads the overall series, however, the Bobcats have been dominant the last few years and this year's game should be action-packed.

Both teams are ranked high in the American Football Coaches Association FCS's Coaches Top 25 Poll.  Montana sits at Number 9, while Montana State is just outside the Top 10, ranked at Number 11.

With so many years and so many games between the two schools, there have been some iconic meetings. The last one coming in 2018 when the Cats were down 22-0, only to come back and win 29-25 at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

One has to think that still stings a little if you're a Griz fan.

How will it all play out this year? I'm not sure, but I for one, can't wait to find out.
