Doesn't it seem like there's a different scam every week? Here's the new one this week:

According to the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, a number of complaints have come in from citizens saying they are getting calls from the Sheriff's Department informing them that they've missed jury duty. They are then instructed to purchase Google Play Cards, Green Dot Cards, etc. in order to avoid arrest.

What makes the scam believable is that the number they appear to be calling from (582-2100) is the correct number of the Sheriff's Office.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office is telling people to hang up if they receive one of these calls, and DO NOT adhere to their request of payment. The Sheriff’s Office reminds the community that they do not conduct business in this manner, and never ask for any kind of payment via the phone.
