Mike and I were very busy when we were first married.  He had a new business, we had a new baby, and didn't have a lot of extra money.

When it came time to decorate the tree, I didn't want to go buy a bunch of ornaments to just fill it up, I wanted to add just the things I love.

That being said, I also didn't want a naked tree.  So, I baked gingerbread men and frosted them, and hung them all over the tree.

Soon after, I noticed smeared frosting, missing legs, and dangling ribbons, where the gingerbread men used to be.

Emma was nibbling on them.  I have great pictures and great memories of this.  Every time I walked by the tree, I smiled.

After 10 years, my tree is full and beautiful with ornaments I have collected over the years.  But I still bake those gingerbread men and hang them on the tree.  All three of my kids still nibble on them, and I hope they continue to do so even when they are older.  I hope someday I have grand kids that nibble on them.

I truly love this time of year, and this has become my favorite tradition.  What is your favorite tradition?
