We're finally getting some moisture, and that's helping to lift more fire restrictions!

At 12:01 a.m. today, fire restrictions at all FWP properties in Region 3 were lifted – this includes fishing access sites, wildlife management areas, and Montana State Parks.

Stage 1 restrictions were put into place in early summer and remained in place throughout the summer and early fall because of prevailing dry and mild conditions. The restrictions included a ban on open fires (campfires included), and constraints on smoking.

Despite a limited amount of recent precipitation, FWP urges continued caution related to the use of fire on all public lands in southwest Montana. Grasses are still dry and lands are susceptible to fire no matter the date on the calendar.

A note to Region 3 hunters: restrictions may remain at some Block Management Areas.
