Montana City Named “Best College Town In America”

Higher learning is a big deal in Montana and certain studies claim that Montanans are some of the most educated folks in the United States.

Here in The Treasure State, we have our fair share of options when it comes to higher learning with the two biggest educational institutions being the University of Montana in Missoula and Montana State University in Bozeman.

Both cities are popular places to not only attend school, but many of the graduates stick around after graduation and end up putting down permanent roots.

Of course, that happens in college towns all across the country. People end up going to school, fall in love with the area, and decide they want to stick around. However, according to one source, the best college town in the entire United States is located right here in Montana.

Which Montana city was named the best college town in America?

While this will certainly be up for debate, not just here in Montana, but across the country, the folks over at Rent Cafe have come out with a list of the best college towns in America for 2024, and according to their research, well, let's just say that the Griz faithful might not like what they have to say.

The list contains the Top 20 Best College Towns in the United States and coming in first place is the city of Bozeman, Montana.

While those of us living in Bozeman might tend to agree, several different factors went into determining the rankings. They looked at things like tuition, cost of living, and available grants and scholarships. Plus, the social scene and different activities were factors as well.

For those who love the outdoors, you can't find a better spot than Bozeman.  No matter the season, there are tons of outdoor activities and we're just a hop, skip, and a jump from America's favorite National Park, which is certainly a bonus.

How did Bozeman rank compared to the other cities and towns that made the list?

Not only was Bozeman ranked the best college town in America, but it was also the only location on the list to receive a perfect score of 100. I mean, you have to admit, that's pretty impressive. Other college towns that made the list were Clemson SC, Provo UT, Gainsville FL, Ann Arbor MI, and Stanford CA.
