2 Montana Men Extend Prison Time In Sexual Assault Case
It's not anything new to learn that the Montana State Prison is understaffed. It's been in the news for as long as I can recall and it's not just Montana that has the shortage, it's throughout the U.S.
When prison's are understaffed, the number of unforeseen events will take place. Whether it's an escapee, a fight amongst inmates, or a riot, it's just simple math, more prisoners more violence. Unfortunately for one female corrections officer, becoming a victim of such types of crime became a reality.
On June 8th of this year, a female officer was checking cells when two inmates grabbed her and pulled her into one of their cells where one of the inmates shut the cell door and the other man attempted to sexually assault the female officer.
Assisting officers were able to use pepper spray to subdue the inmates and attempt to get the situation in control.
Both of the inmates are currently serving prison time for crimes committed in 2012.
Inmate one is currently serving a 100 year sentence for his role in the kidnapping and murder of Sydney, MT school teacher Sherry Arnold in 2012.

Inmate two is currently serving 75 years for assaulting a real estate agent in Great Falls also in 2012.
75 YEAR SENTANCE IN REAL ESTATE AGENT CASE
There are currently over 1600 inmates housed in the Montana State Prison make the inmate population considered over crowded. Because the prison is so over crowded, crimes are more common than one would expect.
