What are the must-see spots in Montana?
The travel site Wander Worth has come up with a list of Montana-based locations that everyone should visit. While there are a couple of no-brainers on the list, you might be surprised by a few of the entries.
The list includes the following:
- Flathead Lake. The biggest natural water lake west of the Mississippi is stunning, as beautiful mountains frame it. Hundreds of thousands of locals and tourists visit the lake each year, and "having a place on Flathead" has become one of the ultimate status symbols in Montana.
- Glacier National Park. Glacier might be the most beautiful place I've ever been. The views will take your breath away, and the colors in summer are mesmerizing.
- Bighorn Canyon. This National Recreation Area is located in the southern part of the state and offers plenty to do for the outdoor enthusiasts.
- Avalanche Creek. Located inside Glacier National Park, the Avalanche Creek area is one of the most popular spots in the Park. There are trails, a picnic area, and much more to check out.
- Big Sky Resort. Big Sky is known for a few things. It's residents and its skiing. Home to a more influential crowd (the Yellowstone Club), the area offers world-class ski runs as well as 5-star lodging. However, chances are, even if you aren't a millionaire, you can still enjoy yourself around the area.
- Elkhorn Ranch. This popular Dude Ranch is located near Gallatin Gateway. Activities include horseback riding, fly fishing, and hiking. Plus, it's an all-inclusive experience.
- Makoshika State Park. Located on the eastern border of Montana, Makoshika State Park is one of a kind. With all kinds of fascinating rock formations, the area is also home to several fossils from prehistoric times.
- Bozeman, Montana. One of the fastest-growing cities in the state, Bozeman is both loved and hated by locals. Many remember the "old Bozeman" and long for those days, while visitors love spending time checking out all of the unique shops, art galleries, and its vibrant social scene. Plus, a game at Bobcat Stadium should be on everyone's bucket list.
- Beartooth Highway. The legendary road might be the most scenic drive in the country. Covering both Montana and Wyoming, the Beartooth is only open a few months a year and brings people from all over the world.
