Many Montanans will stay close to home this summer.

It seems everywhere you go, prices are on the rise. Gas is more expensive, food is more expensive, hotels are more expensive. In fact, I came across some data that suggested around half of Americans will either cancel or alter their vacation plans because of cost.

In a lot of states the idea of a "staycation" doesn't sound like a great idea, but here in Montana, it can be a great alternative.

We have a ton of things to do and see and when you break it down, it's really rather impressive. Talk water for example, did you know that Montana has almost 170 thousand miles of rivers and streams? That's a lot of fishing and tubing.

If I was to ask you which Montana town was the best place for a "staycation" which town would you say? Bozeman? Well, I would think Bozeman would top the list, but it doesn't.

According to the folks over at WalletHub the number one Montana town for a "staycation is....Missoula.

As a former resident of Missoula, the town has a lot going for it. There are plenty or restaurants and bars for those looking to be social, there is the Clark Fork that runs right through town, and there is The Carousel, not to mention lots of other things to check out, like hiking to "The M".

Oh, and another highlight, Missoula is centrally located between the Bitterroot Valley and Flathead Lake. So, if you want to "get away" but you don't want to leave the state, apparently Missoula is the place to be.
