The Gallatin County Sheriff's Department is reporting that the missing snowmobiler in Big Sky has been found safe in the Buck Ridge area south of Big Sky.

34-year-old Christopher Kammen had last been seen in Big Sky at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. At that time, he appeared to have been headed to Doe Creek in the Yellow Mule area on a a two-seater snowmobile.

Searchers included Gallatin County Search and Rescue, including Big Sky, Heli, and Ham teams, Civil Air Patrol, and Rocky Mountain Rotors.

In a statement released by the Sheriff's office, Sheriff Brian Gootkin thanked the community for its support, especially the people who showed up with backcountry gear to help look for Chris.

He also thanked Hungry Moose, Blue Moon, the Freeman family, Big Sky Resort, Yellowstone Club, and Canyon Adventures for their assistance. He said, "That kind of community help is what makes Montana special."
