Every year downtown Bozeman decorates for the holiday season with Christmas Spiders above each intersection along Main Street. Now that the Christmas season has come and gone, the Spiders will be removed in downtown Bozeman.

Main Street in downtown Bozeman will be closed for a short time on Tuesday, January 5th. The closure will begin at 8 a.m. for the removal of the Christmas Spiders and is expected to last three to four hours. Traffic delays are expected so please plan accordingly.

The Christmas Spiders adorn each intersection in downtown Bozeman throughout the holidays. Traditionally, the spiders are lit one by one during the annual Christmas Stroll and have been a ritual in Bozeman for almost 50 years.

Unfortunately, this year's Christmas Stroll looked a little different and was held virtually by the Downtown Bozeman Partnership. But the stroll was not alone, many of our Bozeman area events in 2020 were virtual like Give Big Gallatin Valley, Music on Main, Three Forks Rodeo, and Cancer Support Community 2020 Annual Gala. It will be interesting to see what events going forward will keep the virtual model that seemed to work for many and which events will continue to be held in person.

I'll admit I enjoy the traditions of the Christmas Stroll and, for me, it's not quite the same without Santa and hearing the community sing together to help light the Christmas Spiders. Here's hoping Santa is back in person to light the Christmas Spiders in December of 2021.
