Lady Antebellum Reveal Another Artist Had Eyes for ‘You Look Good’
Lady Antebellum is spilling all the details on their fiery new single, "You Look Good," including which star wanted to record it before them.
In an exclusive interview with Taste of Country, the superstar trio talk about how their confidence has grown over time and is reflected in the new song, which Charles Kelley calls "youthful" and high energy.
"I think one beautiful thing about getting older is you do get more confident in your own skin," Hillary Scott says. "So I'd say more confident, but just as excited, for sure, if not more so."
Fellow band member Kelley echoes Scott's sentiments, saying that the day before song was released was like the "calm before the storm." But fans' overwhelming positive reaction to the jazzy tune has breathed new life into their career. "This feels fresh," Kelley says of the feedback to the song. "This is how it felt."
It's not just the fans who've reacted positively to the song, but also their fellow peers, as well. The trio reveals that they received congratulatory calls and texts from friends like Dierks Bentley, Thomas Rhett and Jake Owen the day the single dropped. And fans may be surprised to know that Rhett actually had the song on hold before Lady A picked it up.
"Thomas called and said 'I'm so glad you guys did this song,'" Kelley reveals. "We're a part of the coolest genre in music," Scott adds. "This is an incredible town, an incredible genre of music to be a part of and that is awesome."
"You Look Good" is the first single off Lady Antebellum's upcoming album, Heart Break, due out June 9. tasteofcountry.com/tags/ryan-hurd/ co-wrote it. Watch the video to see which famous country female he had on his mind while writing the funky love song.
