Lady Antebellum to Appear on New ‘Dirty Dancing’ Soundtrack
In between making their own album, Lady Antebellum found some time to contribute to the soundtrack for the upcoming musical adaptation of Dirty Dancing on ABC.
The trio perform one of the numbers from the original film titled "Hey Baby" on the soundtrack. They're certainly in good company, since the stars of the remake include Katey Sagal, Sarah Hyland, Debra Messing and Abigail Breslin, who will star in the lead role of Baby. They all appear on the soundtrack, along with other music stars including former Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger, pop singer Karmin, rock band American Authors and more. The soundtrack drops on May 19.
The three-hour musical event, set to air on May 24 on ABC, honors the iconic film's 30th anniversary in 2017. The film was released in 1987 and has become a cult classic, with the original soundtrack featuring such noteworthy artists as the film's star Patrick Swayze, Frankie Valli, Otis Redding and more.
Lady A are also gearing up for the release of their new 2017 album, Heart Break, on June 9. It's their first project as a trio since taking some time off to work on solo endeavors. The album's first single "You Look Good" exploded onto country radio in early 2017 and is currently climbing the music charts. The group co-wrote 11 of the 13 songs on Heart Break, many of which were inspired by their children and loved ones.
“There’s a song that we wrote that’s about our kids that’s really special to us,” Hillary Scott tells Taste of Country. “It’s about our kids, but I feel like it can be about anybody that you love.”
They'll embark on their 2017 You Look Good World Tour beginning May 26 in California.
