A federal judge in Montana has dismissed a civil lawsuit alleging fraud and racketeering by "Three Cups of Tea" author Greg Mortenson, his publisher and his charity.

U.S. District Judge Sam Haddon ruled today that the claims by four people who bought Mortenson's books are imprecise, flimsy and speculative.

The four plaintiffs claimed Mortenson lied in his best-selling books "Three Cups of Tea" and "Stones Into Schools" so that he and Penguin Group (USA) could sell millions of books and raise tens of millions of dollars for the Central Asia Institute.

The lawsuit was filed after "60 Minutes" and author Jon Krakauer published reports last year that Mortenson fabricated parts of his books, which recount his efforts to build schools in central Asia.
