Last night, as snow was falling in Bozeman, I decided to make the best of it and go see the new Star Wars movie. Rogue One wasn't what I expected it to be. There were definitely a lot of surprises, but overall it was a really good movie.

The movie is centered around the Empire, and their development of the Death Star. It also introduces us to new unknown members of the Rebel Alliance. Rogue One falls into that 20ish-year gap in the franchise’s timeline between Episodes III and IV.

The opening sequence, introduces us to Galen Erso. Galen is an Imperial engineer helping to put together the still-secret project that will become the first Death Star. It also introduces us to Galen's daughter, Jyn Erso, who becomes a main character throughout Rogue One. In the first 20 minutes of the movie, you'll meet the rest of the cast who will be mainstays throughout Rogue One.

The film also reintroduces us to familiar characters such as Darth Vader and Princess Leia. Darth Vader is voiced by James Earl Jones once again (as it should be).

Overall, Rogue One is a great movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had many funny moments due to one liners that have become a staple of the Star Wars franchise. If you're looking for a great movie to enjoy with the family over the Holidays, I would highly recommend Rogue One.
