Popular Montana Ski Resort Blasted With Over a Foot of New Snow

Wax up your skis and snowboards because Montana is getting a head start on the season. A popular ski resort in the state got pummelled with over 14" of fresh snow, and according to reports, there's more snow in the forecast.

It's not uncommon for mountains in Montana to get snow during the month of October, and a recent snowstorm has dumped over a foot of new snow in many places throughout the state. One resort reported snow totals over 14".

If you've checked out the webcams at Red Lodge Mountain in southern Montana, you probably couldn't believe your eyes. An early-season storm delivered a healthy dose of heavy wet snow.

If you're having trouble containing your excitement, don't worry, you're not alone. Unfortunately, travel to Red Lodge Mountain is not recommended due to slick conditions on Ski Run Road. You'll have to wait a little longer before you can hit the mountain and take advantage of all of the fresh powder.

Red Lodge Mountain will officially open for the 23-24 season the Friday after Thanksgiving. If you're thinking about making a trip this season, here's a brief description of the resort.
