Montana is rapidly changing, and much of the change isn't for the better. Longtime residents are furious about what is happening to their beloved state. Sadly, nothing is being done to stop it. The Treasure State is slowly turning into a luxurious playground for the rich and famous.

In many places throughout the state, the average person can no longer afford to buy a home, let alone rent one. Wealthy investors have turned Montana into a play where only the rich can survive. Cattle ranches are disappearing and being replaced with private hunting clubs that most people can't afford.

An article recently published by New York Magazine highlights the drastic change in one specific area, the Crazy Mountain Range north of Livingston, Montana. The Crazy Mountains are one of Montana's most remote mountain ranges, and access is extremely limited. The mountains also are important to Native American culture, which is prevalent throughout the state.
The population of Montana is growing at twice the national average, and much of the grow is attributed to investors buying up huge ranches and privatizing them. Before long, there won't be any public land left for hunters and anglers.
If access to public land is important to you, you should be irate about what's happening in Montana. Public land is a huge part of Montana's quality of life. Certain politicians in Montana have a record of erasing protections for public lands. If you're going to vote, it's worth your time to find out where candidates stand when it comes to protecting our public lands.
