Will’s Movie Of The Week: Clown In A Cornfield Is Terrific
If you hate clowns, this film is not for you.
Clown in a Cornfield
You might be surprised.
If you've wondered why there haven't been more horror movies involving clowns and a cornfield, your wish has come true.
Clown in a Cornfield comes out this weekend, and might be a sleeper horror hit in 2025.
The movie is based on a book with the same title and premiered recently at South By Southwest's Film Festival to rave reviews.
The movie's setting is in the middle of Missouri, where the town's biggest employer's mascot, Frendo, can be seen everywhere.
The film's director is Eli Craig, who became a beloved horror comedy director after his cult hit Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. The movie has several notable actors, including Kevin Durand(Abigail).
Shudder is known for making low-budget but critically acclaimed films. Their movies usually go straight to streaming services, but they've changed their plans. For the past couple of years, they have pushed to have them premiere in theaters nationwide.
One of their most recent success was the sci-fi horror Ash starring Eiza Gonzalez and Aaron Paul.
Is Clown in a Cornfield something you should see in theaters?
Here's my review.
Clown in a Cornfield Review
Don't let the title discourage you. This movie is a good time.
The movie seems like a typical slasher film. A new girl moves into town and becomes friends with the nefarious popular group. Let's say they cause some problems the town folks aren't happy with.
When the bodies start dropping, the movie gets terrifying and funny.
Several parts of the movie poke fun at Gen Z, and it's perfect.
Is this slasher movie groundbreaking? No, but it's a hell of a time.
Eli Craig makes a fun, scary ride that everyone who loves horror movies will enjoy.
There are two more Clown in the Cornfield books that could be adapted if the movie becomes successful.
Only time will tell.

Don't mess with Frendo.
