Listeria: Important Recall For This Famous Turkey Bacon

Listeria is a common but nasty bacteria. Check your fridge and freezer for turkey bacon, as 367,812 pounds of fully cooked turkey bacon has been recalled. This is important, so let friends and family know if they like turkey bacon.

"FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."

Listeria can contaminate foods like smoked salmon, deli meats, soft cheeses, and hot dogs because they can be consumed with technically no further cooking...so the bacteria survives.

Cooking or microwaving foods that are contaminated with listeria can actually kill the bacteria, but the food must reach certain temperatures to ensure that it would be safe to consume.

But for that reason, this particular recall is concerning because the turkey bacon product is actually fully cooked. Yes, almost everyone cooks products like this to make them hot and crispy - but you don't have to cook this product.

Kraft Heinz Foods Company, is recalling approximately 367,812 pounds of fully cooked turkey bacon products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled turkey bacon product was produced between April 24th, 2025, through June 11th, 2025. Some of the "use by" dates are well into September, so it's likely that contaminated products are in refrigerators nationwide right now.

The turkey bacon that is being recalled was sold in single packs, but also three and four packs. The specific details on the recalled products are as follows:

• 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL" and universal product code (UPC) "071871548601" printed on the packaging under the barcode,"use by" dates ranging "18 JUL 2025" to "02 AUG 2025," and lot code "RS40."
• 36-oz. packages containing three 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL" and universal product code (UPC) "071871548748" printed on the packaging under the barcode, "use by" dates ranging "23 JUL 2025" to "04 SEP 2025," and lot codes "RS19," "RS40," or "RS42."
• 48-oz. packages containing four 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages of "Oscar Mayer Turkey BACON ORIGINAL" and UPC "071871548793" printed on the packaging under the barcode and "use by" dates ranging "18 JUL 2025" to "04 SEP 2025," and lot codes "RS19," "RS40," or "RS42."
