I Compared L.A. Vs. Bozeman. Why Would Californians Even Move here?
Ok, let's try and understand this together because I really don't get it. Let's put the "beautiful mountains" aside and look and see what the real reason is for Californians wanting to live in Bozeman. To be perfectly honest, it doesn't make much sense to me.
I found this article where you can compare two cities at one time to see the differences in the cost of living. You can check it out HERE. I can tell you right now that some of these prices are not exactly accurate, but they are pretty dang close.
Let's take a peek at some of the more pricey things on the list. I have updated the rental price of a one-bedroom, but the other things are close, give or take a few bucks.
A one-bedroom in L.A. is averaged at $2,195 whereas in Bozeman it is $1,863. Can I just say how RIDICULOUS this is for both places! I understand that with the population increase in Bozeman, prices will be going up, but for Bozeman, this is a 20% increase from the last year.
The average salary is not even enough to cover rent and still survive. I mean, unless you want to have a roommate, this is not feasible. It is more expensive to buy a Corolla or a Volkswagen HERE than it is in Los Angeles.
Your monthly income is more in L.A., and rent and preschool are cheaper in Bozeman, so if you look at all the prices of things, and the savings and losses...I mean...other than the mountain views, the cost of living is basically the same. So you can't tell me "it's cheaper to live in Bozeman than L.A.", because really it's not that different.
I guess maybe to escape the big city? I still am not sure why the West Coast is invading the Midwest.
