Ellen DeGeneres Throws Hillary Scott an Impromptu Baby Shower
Lady Antebellum stopped by the comedic headquarters of 'Ellen' on Tuesday (May 7) to perform their hit 'Downtown' from their already successful fourth album, 'Golden.' They also sat down with the comedian, prompting some entertaining conversations and hilarious comments. Turns out DeGeneres had some surprises up her sleeve, as she threw the beautiful and very pregnant Hillary Scott an impromptu baby shower.
"Because you have a baby and you're probably craving things, we have a surprise for you," DeGeneres said to the beaming mother-to-be. As the words left her mouth, a staff member attired in little more than a tuxedo jacket and garters came out with a tiered dessert tray of rubber duck-adorned cupcakes and a slew of Pop-Tarts. "Look at those shorts!" Scott said as she caught a glimpse of the scantily-clad man, whose short shorts made Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood pretty uncomfortable.
"She loves Pop-Tarts! It's true! She's been craving those," Haywood shared of Scott, who looked at the stack of desserts and asked, "Can I take those to go?"
On a more ... intimate topic, Kelley revealed that he was wearing his 'Ellen' underwear, but that he was frustrated. "They're very comfortable, but here's the problem -- Ellen won't tell us where she gets these," he said, to which the spunky comedian replied, "We make 'em and sell 'em. Just me and my mother in a garage."
The party wasn't over after the treats, as the same garter-clad guy came out with a basket of goodies for Scott's little girl, who due to make her appearance in July. The gifts included tiny pink cowgirl boots and a matching cowgirl hat, which the singer appropriately squealed in excitement over. Onesies with 'Ellen' emblazoned across the top were also in the gift basket.
For a grand finale, DeGeneres explained that since Scott's husband is a drummer, baby Scott should feel comfortable following in her father's footsteps, and a miniature pink drum set was brought out amidst cheers from the audience.
"Dave's going to take this to the studio and start recording with this," Kelley admitted.
Added DeGeneres, "I'll give you some more underwear if you do it!"
Although album promotion can often be tiring, it's clear that a visit with the funny talk show host only boosted Lady A's spirits.
