Here’s What Bozeman Schools May Look Like in the Fall
The Bozeman Public Schools have released a draft plan for the upcoming school year. A group is meeting Thursday to create a trigger document for student's re-entry back into school in the fall. They will follow this with a parent survey by June 30th.
The draft plan consists of broad ideas to keep both staff and students safe while returning to class. Here are a few options that they are considering currently:
- To reduce movement in the halls, have the teachers move from class to class.
- Stagger class schedules to limit the number of students in the halls between classes.
- Place signs (floor and walls) around the campus reminding people to be at least six feet apart, including when occupying a classroom.
- Keep libraries, gyms, and playgrounds off-limits unless they can be sanitized between groups.
- Sanitize playground equipment between recesses. (Head custodian develops schedule and posts).
- Break rooms, bathrooms, and other common areas are being disinfected frequently with a strong preference.
- Eliminate policies and practices that link grading and attendance.
- Implement plans for flexible remote learning to mitigate the impact of missed in-person instruction.
- In the event a person diagnosed with COVID-19 is determined to have been in the building and poses a risk to the community, programs may consider closing for a short time (1-2 days) for cleaning and disinfection.
- Busses are sanitized after every trip with students, AM, PM, and field trips.
- Make rooms easy to clean and disinfect, i.e. remove soft furnishings and hard to clean items from all classrooms and frequently occupied spaces.
