It's hard to believe that I've been on the radio in Bozeman for over five years. My first on-air shift on 100.7 XL Country was in June of 2016.

Throughout the past five years, I've made a lot of great friends and made a lot of memories. For the most part, I think my show has been well received. However, every once in a while, I am reminded that you can't please everyone.

A couple of months after I moved to Bozeman, I received my first hate mail. Honestly, it wasn't too bad. The reason I'm writing about it is that it showed up as a Facebook memory, and it reminded me of how important it is to stay humble in the face of adversity.

Back in 2016, a listener named Hannah posted the following on the 100.7 XL Country Facebook page. I've left all of the misspelling and grammatical errors to provide context.

Not trying to be rude become but when did this page you personal channel and posting things about you? I like when you DJ but on the XL nation Facebook page has just turned into your person blog and I'm honestly over how you share some of our best camping spots on here and fishing areas and you post a lot of things that aren't what used to be posted on here. Look back before you where here and it's a lot of things about country stars or things happening in Bozeman. Now it's the best way to relax here those are secrets for only us. This is the stuff that's ruining and populating Montana so much. These are our secrets let's keep them that way. And posting where you live and if you should have a beard or not doesn't really fit this page.

As I said, I always try to stay humble in these kinds of moments. Here was my response.

I'm sorry that you feel that way. Blogging is a part of my job, and I'm just doing my job. I'm actually proud, and the things I post about. Thank you for listening, and if you don't like seeing my posts, feel free to ignore them from now on. Have a nice day!

I am happy to report that I haven't received much hate mail since then, but this one definitely stood out.
