Which Montana lake is the best? Well, that depends on who you ask, but I think most locals and tourists would say that one Montana lake stands out above all the others, just for its size alone.

Which Montana lake is the best?
According to the social site United States Beauty Flathead Lake made the Top 5 List for the Clearest Lakes in America. What's interesting about that is that is 4 out of 5 of the lakes on the list are located in the Northwestern Region.
Flathead is ranked 4th on the list, but the ranking actually comes from the depth of the lake and how far down you can see. For those curious, the rankings of the Top 5 are as follows:
- #5 Lake Chelan-Washington Visible Depth 60 ft.
- #4 Flathead Lake-Montana Visible Depth 65 ft.
- #3 Lake Tahoe-California/Nevada Visible Depth 73 ft.
- #2 Crater Lake-Oregon Visible Depth 124 ft.
- #1 Blue Lake-Oregon Visible Depth 136 ft.
How many people go to Flathead Lake each year? While it might be hard to nail down an exact number, according to the Flathead Beacon, Flathead State Park (all 6 units) had over 300 thousand visitors last year.
