Fathers Taking Paternity Leave – Do You Think It Should Become The Norm?

Last week the world was watching as Kate Middleton and Prince William had their first child, a son, the third in line for the throne - Prince George Alexander Louis. The happy parents thanked the hospital and smiled for paparazzi photos before they left for the safety and quiet of their home to spend their first precious moments with their son.
Interesting for me, was that Prince William actually took a "paternity leave" from his job as a Royal Air Force search-and-rescue helicopter pilot for two weeks. This means he will be getting paid for being at home. Now, I know it's normal for women to take this type of leave, but you don't hear about it very often from dads.
What do you think about this? Do you think it should become a common practice?
I think it should. My dad was never there, and I wonder what life would have been like had he been. I think it's interesting to think that a husband and wife would tackle the task of a newborn together.
