
Freezer Homicide Case: Major Update In Cut Bank Investigation
The horrible story coming out of Cut Bank, Montana has a major update. You may have seen the shocking headlines about a woman discovered dead inside a freezer. Now, investigators have confirmed more details and made an arrest in the case.

Authorities say the victim has been identified as 36-year-old Cerenity Marie Shawl, who lived in the Cut Bank area. According to officials, her body was found on February 7, 2026 at around 3:30 p.m. inside a freezer in a basement. The Glacier County coroner later confirmed her identity, and an autopsy determined she died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her death has officially been ruled a homicide.
The Cut Bank Police Department is taking charge of the investigation, working alongside the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation. The Glacier County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the coroner’s review. Sheriff Tom Seifert shared condolences with Shawl’s family and friends.
A major piece of information was dropped on February 9th, when Glacier County Dispatch received a tip connected to the homicide investigation. That tip led to the arrest of Alfred Joseph Smith. Police say he was taken into custody without incident on a warrant for deliberate homicide. He is currently being held on a 1 million dollar bond.

Another person, Natasha Siliezar, was reportedly present in the vehicle at the time of Smith’s arrest and has been detained for questioning. The investigation will continue as officials determine exactly what happened.
