Montana is hands-down one of the best places in the country to get outside and explore. With over 30 million acres of public land, 3 Wild and Scenic Rivers, 16 designated Wilderness Areas, 10 National Forests, 9 National Parks, 55 State Parks, and more local spots than you can count—that's a whole lot of ground to cover.

With all that room to roam, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of planning your next adventure. But it's also important to remember: Montana can be downright wild. From unpredictable weather and fast-moving rivers to grizzly bears and wildfires, the risks out here are real—and part of what makes the state so rugged and incredible.
