What seemed like a  typical Monday afternoon in Bozeman turned out to be anything but for the Bozeman Police Department.

The Bozeman PD received a call that led to a shooting on Monday afternoon.  According to a press release from the Police Department, one man is dead and no officers were injured.

The incident happened just after the 1 pm hour when police received a call regarding a disturbance at a residence located on Bungalow Lane in Bozeman, which is located on the south side of the city.

When the Bozeman Police arrived, an individual (male) left the residence in a vehicle and drove to the nearby street of Greenmore Court.  This is the area where the shooting took place.

According to the press release, the individual had a shotgun and believed that "there were people on their way to kill him".  The press release goes on to state:

As officers approached the area where the vehicle was parked, the male produced a firearm. An officer-involved shooting ensued, with five Bozeman Police officers involved. The suspect was subsequently found to be deceased. There were no injuries to the responding officers. 

As is the case in these situations there will be an investigation into the shooting which will be conducted by The Montana Division of Criminal Investigation and they will be assisted by the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office. This was requested by the Bozeman Police Department.
