As Bozeman grows, so does the population. It's not just new businesses and buildings going up month after month. More and more students are heading to Gallatin County and parents are starting to wonder if there will be enough room for those students.

The Bozeman School Board Trustees are looking at some changes for the upcoming school year and years to come.

Gallatin High School opened just 4 years ago in 2020. As we look at how much growth has taken place in Bozeman, should we be concerned about available space in the future?

In 2023/2024 there were over 1475 students at Gallatin High forcing some students to go "out of the school boundaries" and enroll at Bozeman High. The school board is looking ahead to the 2025/2026 and thinking that possibly adjusting the boundaries will help improve enrollment issues.

Another solution no one is bringing up is possibly adding another high school. With all of the new construction going on here in Bozeman, would adding a high school to the list be a terrible idea? I mean, we could just continue to shuffle students around from school to school, but what happens when the population outgrows the available space?

There is currently no changes in the plans for elementary or middle school boundary changes, but that doesn't mean that there will not be in the future.

Should the school board, the city, and the residents consider building another new high school? If so, where would be a spot that would be ideal for not only the students, but would also make sense for the continued growth?
