What a couple of days.

In the end, our voices were shot, and we drank way too much Dr. Pepper Zero and Diet Moutain Dew, but what a couple of days.  Of course, we're talking about the Country Cares For St. Jude Kids Radiothon that took place last Thursday and Friday on 100.7 XL Country.

The annual radiothon raises money for St. Jude Research Hospital so that they can continue their fight against childhood cancer. Over the years, the radiothon here in Bozeman has literally raised millions of dollars for St. Jude, so how did we do this year?

Pretty dang good.

The good folks of Montana donated over one hundred and twenty-seven thousand dollars in a two-day period. In fact, that total number was one hundred twenty-seven thousand eight hundred and twenty dollars. Of course, that money will go to help fight and find cures for childhood cancer.

Friday was extra special as it was the 60th Anniversary of St. Jude Research Hospital opening its doors for the first time.  Back in 1962, the childhood cancer survival rate was 20 percent.  Today, it's over 80 percent. Of course, that wouldn't be possible without your donations.

With calls from all over western Montana, it was a remarkable two days. We had some amazing prizes that we gave away including a Gibson Hummingbird guitar made right here in Bozeman, plus an autographed MSU Bobcat jersey, MSU basketballs, concert and sports tickets, gift certificates, and a whole lot more.

This was our first radiothon here in Montana and Megan's first ever.  Being new to the station, we weren't really sure what to expect but were we ever impressed.  The generosity that came pouring in really was a completely humbling experience.  To see so many names and so many towns represented, confirmed what we already knew.

The people of Montana are extremely giving and kind.

We want to thank our sponsors for all that they did to help make this a successful radiothon.

We also want to thank everyone at Townsquare Media-Bozeman for all of the hard work everyone put in.  These radiothons are time-consuming and require a lot of detail, most of that done behind the scenes from people that remain behind the scenes.

Most of all though, we want to thank you.  Thank you for believing in this cause and thank you for donating so that we can one-day end childhood cancer.  Thank you for your kindness and your inspiration.  None of this is ever possible without you, so once again, thank you.
