After two home games and two huge MSU wins, our Bobcats are on the road this week as they kick off conference play.

The Cats travel to Portland, Oregon to take on Portland State. While the game is sure to be a good one, the Head Coach of Portland State made headlines late last week when he offered to buy fans a beer if they came and watched his team.

Bruce Barnum has been the Head Coach at Portland State since 2015 and after kicking off the season 0-2, the Coach decided he needed to do something to get local fans to watch the Vikings.

His Plan?  Buy them a beer. Yep, you read that right.  He offered to buy fans a beer to come to watch his team play. It seems the Coach might be on to something, as the Vikings beat Western Oregon 21 to 7 to improve to 1-2.

Portland State struggles with attendance as the average crowd is right around 4 thousand per game according to Fox News. Coach Barnum or "Barney" as his players call him, came up with the free beer idea to put folks in the seats.

Barnum is quoted as saying "I'm not buying your ticket, but I'll buy your beer".  This isn't the first time Barnum has been in the giving mood.  He once gave all of his performance bonus (several thousand dollars) to his assistant coaches.

I'll be honest, it can be hard to root against a guy like that, but I won't have any trouble doing it this Saturday.  Game time is 3:05 and you can catch all the action on 100.7 XL Country.  Go Bobcats!
