Beware! Zip Tie On Your Door? What Montanans Need To Know
There is a scary trend going around, and although we have not yet seen this trend hit Montana, it's good to keep up to date with what is going on in other parts of the United States. By keeping on track, we can be prepared and put a stop to it before it happens.
Reports of zip ties being put on car door handles have been reported and the reason for it can be extremely scary.
What does this zip tie mean?
Allegedly, it means that you have been chosen/marked as a person to rob or even worse, kidnapped.
What should you do if you find a zip tie on your door?
- Stay calm
- Check all of your surroundings
- Lock your doors when you get into your vehicle
- WAIT until you are home or to a safe spot to remove the zip tie.
The hopes for the criminals is that you will try and remove the zip tie right then and there, giving them the opportunity to rob you or grab you. You don't want them to have any extra seconds to commit a crime.
We have all done the grocery shopping where we try and carry all of our bags in our hand to try and avoid having to take the cart to the car. Don't do this. Use the cart returns, keep your hands free, and keep yourself safe.
It is a good habit to do a walk around of your vehicle daily to make sure that there is not anything unusual. This is just one easy way to keep yourself and your family safe.
