American-Made Social Media App Hopes For Warm Welcome In Montana
We have all heard about the "banning of TikTok" in Montana and some are asking what will be next.
This could become the newest social media frenzy, or it is at least the hope for its creator. An American-made social media app, specifically targeting Montana, could become the latest download.
Zigazoo, created by Florida teacher, Zak Ringelstein, took off during COVID to help children stay connected to their friends. Hopes of keeping depression low, the app would allow kids to still "socialize" with other kids while being actually social was taken away.
How does Zigazoo work?
Basically, the app will allow questions to be asked like "What's your favorite animal" or "What's your favorite fashion trend"? Here is the kicker, you can answer the question, BUT only in video form. I know this sounds a bit odd, but I can see where Ringelstein is going with this.
So in order to answer a question like, "What's your favorite animal", you will have to post a video with your answer. You don't use typed words. Which will hopefully eliminate the unnecessary trolls that sit at home just pushing their misery onto others.
I've dealt with my pocketful of hateful comments when I first moved to Montana, so I am sure this happens in other states as well.
There are other features that keep Zigazoo safe, or as safe as it can be. You have to go through steps to verify you are a real person, this will help with all the "fake" accounts that many other social apps have issues with, AND it is made with an "ethical algorithm". The ethical algorithm is designed to help keep inappropriate content off the page.
My only questions regarding Zigazoo are:
1. The app was created for 13-20-year-olds (Gen-Zers), but is that age group appropriate?
2. Will you have to verify your age in order to connect with people in the appropriate group?
I will try and reach out to the creator to get more details regarding some of my questions.
If or when TikTok is banned here in Montana, could this become the latest download for the younger generation? We shall see.
