ABC announced today that it will be cancelling All My Children and One Life To Live.

All My Children will end in September after 41 years on the air, and One Life to Live will end in January after a 43-year run!

According to PerezHilton.com The soaps will be replaced by food-themed show The Chew, and health/lifestyle show The Revolution.

Here's what ABC president Brian Frons had to say about the network's decision to cancel these landmark shows:

“While we are excited about our new shows and the shift in our business, I can’t help but recognize how bittersweet the change is. We are taking this bold step to expand our business because viewers are looking for different types of programming these days. They are telling us there is room for informative, authentic and fun shows that are relatable, offer a wide variety of opinions and focus on ‘real life’ takeaways."

More from Frons about the two axed soap operas:

"They are iconic pieces of television that have made an indelible mark on our culture’s history."

Were you a fan of these shows?  How do you feel about this?  I used to watch Days Of Our Lives years ago, but quit watching when Marlena was possessed by the devil...It was just to stupid.  I also used to watch The Bold And The Beautiful until I had that third baby.  Now, I just don't have time!
