Has the time finally started to arrive? Are we going to finally start seeing some sort of "affordable housing" around the state?
As we all know, it's always been cheaper to live in surrounding communities but recently, even the smaller communities have seemed a bit higher in price than usual.
I have friends that are moving in town to a different apartment and they have been looking for something a little bit more affordable. What they need is a two Bedroom apartment, with the hopes of having two bathrooms. They have one dog so they're hoping to find something that has a fenced in patio or a dog park at the complex.

A year ago this would've been nearly impossible to find something that would fit their needs for under $2200. But as I've been searching Zillow, like most of us do out of curiosity, they have been able to find a few different properties for under $2000 with everything that they need. Some even have a garage attached, which is a plus.

Although having the deposit and first months rent upon move in is still difficult for some people, the fact that rents are going down is good for the community members. Is it the fact that there's more buildings going up? Or is it possibly the fact that landlords and management companies are realizing they are putting families on the streets with their outrageous prices?
Either way, as it seems more buildings are being completed there may actually be a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to the rental and housing crisis in Bozeman. Although I will say, it is still sad that you need almost half a million dollars to purchase a home here in Gallatin County. Especially if this is the valley that you grew up in.
