It's scary how dry it is already, and it looks like fire season has begun.

The Pioneer Fire started, Monday, May 13 around 3:30 p.m. about five miles west of Wise River MT on Highway 43. Right now, the fire is 40-45 acres in size, 75% contained, and the cause is unknown.

Multiple structures are threatened and there is traffic control on Highway 43 as the fire has crossed the highway.

Travelers are advised to consider alternate routes.

The Rumsey Gulch fire was reported at 6:20 p.m. on Monday, May 13 and is located about  4 miles SE of Philipbsburg, MT. Structures are threatened and evacuations have occurred.

The 200 acre fire is currently being managed by the MT DNRC, Granite County and the US Forest Service.
