This morning, at about 9am,  at approximately  the tower at Gallatin Field called the Gallatin County 911 dispatch center to report a plane crash.

The tower reported a small two passenger Tomahawk airplane crashed somewhere in the Horseshoe Hills area.

The tower received broken radio transmissions indicating an emergency from an airplane in distress.

The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office activated the Gallatin County Search and Rescue Team and requested a helicopter to help locate the crash.

The tower called dispatch back several minutes later to report they made contact with the pilot who was safely on the ground.

The pilot was with a trainee when they experienced engine trouble and had to make an emergency landing in an open field in the Clarkston area north of Three Forks.

There was no plane crash just an emergency landing. The pilot and trainee were uninjured.
