Mommy Memos: Overboard
December 17, 2010 6:00 AM The bad thing about starting your Christmas shopping early, is that you tend to buy way too much. I have A LOT of people to buy for…and i do it happily, trying to find each person the perfect gift. My main focus though is on the kids. I know I can’t buy them everything…my wallet can’t handle it, and I don’t want them to grow up to be monsters. I do have a tendency to get them too much at Christmas. They have lists…very long lists…and Santa and I keep in close touch to decide which list items would be best. The thing I am looking forward to most this year is to watch them wait at the top of the stairs, while I get the camera ready, trembling with excitement….then their eyes, as they see what Santa brought them. Overboard with gifts? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. I only get these little people for a short time…pretty soon they aren’t going to want to wait at the top of the stairs, and they may not believe in Santa anymore…so I will continue to go overboard while I can…and be thankful that I am able to do so. Just make sure you cover my eyes when I walk by the shoe store, so I can pay for all of it!
