Whether you're a hardcore Cats fan or a hardcore Griz fan, there's no denying that a Cat-Griz rematch in the FCS National Championship game would be great for the state of Montana.

It's too soon to tell, but a rematch between the Montana State Bobcats and the University of Montana Grizzlies could happen in the FCS National Championship game. In order for that to happen, both teams will have to win every playoff game that lies ahead.

This weekend, both teams will face tough opponents in the FCS quarterfinals. The Bobcats will travel to Huntsville, Texas for a matchup against #1 Sam Houston on Saturday. The Grizzlies will face #3 James Madison on Friday night in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

If the Bobcats win on Saturday, they will advance to the semifinals. Hypothetically, they would face either #5 Villanova or unseeded South Dakota State. The winner of that game will be determined on Saturday. If Villanova wins, the Bobcats would face them on the road in Villanova, Pennsylvania. If South Dakota State wins, the Bobcats would get the home-field advantage in Bobcat Stadium. The Bobcats made it to the FCS semifinals in 2019, but their championship dreams were crushed after losing to North Dakota State 42-14.

If the Griz win their Friday night matchup against James Madison, they would advance to the semi-finals and face either #7 Eastern Tennessee or #2 North Dakota State.

Both the Cats and the Griz would have to win their semifinal games, but if that happens, they would face each other in the FCS National Championship and fans in Montana and across the country would get to see a "Brawl of the Wild' rematch in Frisco, Texas. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it happens. We wish both teams the best of luck in their upcoming games.
