UPDATE: Friday's Welcome Home Ceremony for Atkins' parents just got a little more exciting! Received word that Bozeman High's Band will be at the airport! Special thanks Given by Rob Watson - Superintendent to Dan Martin and Karst Stage for the donation of buses to get the band to and from the airport!

Jack & Elaine Atkins of Bozeman are in Washington D.C. to receive the Medal of Honor from President Donald Trump for their son Staff Sergeant Travis W. Atkins. When they return home on Friday, a special Welcome Home is being put together to show Jack & Elaine of how proud of Travis the local community is.

Local agencies that are already expected to participate are:

  • Montana Highway Patrol
  • Belgrade Police
  • Central Valley Fire Dept
  • Bozeman Fire Dept

Also expected to be there is Congressman Greg Gianforte.

If you would like to come show your love & support, here's what you need to do:

Please arrive at Airway Blvd by 3:30 p.m. and park along the roadway to help create a Path of Honor. Starting outside Terminal to Frontage road via Airway Boulevard, right on Frontage road thru Belgrade to Jackrabbit, south.

The family is expected to be leaving the airport shortly after 3:30 p.m. ALL PUBLIC IS WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

Important Info About Atkins’ Medal of Honor 
1. Staff Sergeant Travis W. Atkins will be the Third Montana-Born recipient,
and the 10th overall in Montana.
2. Atkins will be the 3,506th recipient, less than half have been awarded After
the Indian and Civil Wars,
3. Iraq War has seen 4 medal of honorees, Atkins will be the 5th
