5 Montana Towns Ruined By Transplants
I get it, people don't like change.
Change represents...well, change. It's new, it's not normal, and it requires adjustment. People like routines. We are creatures of habit, so when you decide to make a bunch of changes to something we know and love, you can expect pushback.
Take Montana, for example. Over the last couple of decades, the Treasure State has undergone a whole lot of change. Folks have moved in from all over the country, especially the West Coast, and with that, have required and demanded that things be different from what many locals are used to. Towns have sprung up or grown to become something unrecognizable.

Bozeman is the perfect example. However, Bozeman isn't the only town that has "changed" over the years, at least according to one local.
"Kandi," who has a TikTok page, is very vocal about what out-of-staters have done to the great state of Montana, and in her opinion (which is also the opinion of many others) is that transplants have completely ruined towns in Montana. Now, at first, that might seem like a strong accusation, but when you dive into it a bit, let's be honest, she has a point.
5 Montana Towns that will never be the same
Bozeman will never be the town it once was. Big changes are in the town's future, and none of them are embracing that old school Montana vibe. It's all retail and condos, and that has a whole lot of folks fired up. But as we said, Bozeman isn't the only town to make the list.
- Bozeman, Montana
- Livingston, Montana
- Red Lodge, Montana
- Kalispell, Montana
- Missoula, Montana
While I didn't grow up in Montana, I did grow up in a town that was very much like Montana. It was a close-knit community, a town where people worked hard and knew their neighbors. It was a railroad town like many of the towns here in Big Sky Country.
As the years went by, and things started to change, the town needed new blood. Once that started to happen, the complaints became louder and louder. You see, people are all for change, as long as it doesn't happen.
When it does, well, then it becomes a problem.
