I spent a bit of time on the road this weekend and I came across a number of of folks that were visiting from out of state.

There were plenty of RV's on the highway and the RV Parks that we passed seemed to be darn near full. But, it's July and we are full-swing in the middle of Tourist Season in Montana. I get it though, the state is beautiful and so unlike the others it's no wonder people travel here to take it all in.

It has been said and written that Montanans might not be the most friendly folks when it comes to tourists. Now, I don't know how true that is, but I thought I was ask Chat GPT what should Montanans due to welcome tourists, and the list was interesting.

How can Montanans help tourists?

There were 15 different things it suggest we do to welcome tourists, however, I'm going to dwindle it down to the Top 5.

  • Share Local History
  • Help Someone Who Looks Lost
  • Make Sure Visitors Want To Come Back

For those who don't know, tourism in Montana brings in about 5.6 billion dollars a year, so it's a pretty big deal here in Big Sky Country. And while most will have no problem with the list above, there are those here that will continue to complain about non-Montanans coming to visit Montana.
