Montana Celebrates Oktoberfest With These Popular Events
Let's be honest, Montana's love to celebrate any type of holiday that involves beer.
Good news! As we enter the "Oktoberfest" season, there are a few places around Montana where you can celebrate and it doesn't matter whether you're German or not. Oh, and if you are curious, up to 25 percent of Montanans have German heritage, which makes Montana number 1 in America for the most German ancestry.

The first one is happening this weekend and takes place in Big Sky. The Big Sky Oktoberfest happens September 18th, 19th, and 20th.
The event will have multiple activities including a traditional stein holding contest (by the way, that's way more difficult than it sounds) plus there will be college football on the big screen, so all the Bobcat fans need not worry if you're heading to the event. There will be German food, games, music and the event is both children and dog friendly.
Next up is The Great Northwest Oktoberfest which takes place in Whitefish over the first two weekends in October (6 days total).
The festivities in Whitefish include stein holding, log sawing, dancing, and the crowning of royalty. Much like the event in Big Sky, there are also kids events at this festival as well. Plus, food, beverage and a whole lot more. The Great Northwest Oktoberfest is certainly the biggest of the Montana events.
Finally, there is the event that happens in Livingston in mid October.
The one day affair is scheduled to take place this year on Saturday, October 17th on Second Street in Livingston. The event which takes place from 4pm until 7pm will have food, shopping, and fan for all.
I'm sure there are many other festivals throughout the state and there is no doubt they all have something special to offer.

So, make sure you dust off that stein, find your Lederhosen in the back of the closet and get ready to Prost!
