Anyone who drives the Norris Road knows there are some scary spots. Well, in response to crash patterns identified on Montana Highway 84, the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is launching the Highway 84 – East of Norris Corridor Study to examine future safety improvement options.

The study will focus on a winding part of the road five miles east of Norris, from the Warm Springs Boat Launch to Red Mountain Campground. They will research this corridor over the next year, with the most feasible and cost-efficient solutions presented in 2021.

MDT is encouraging public input. “We want to hear from everyone, whether you drive this highway to get to your favorite fishing spot or if the section is part of your regular commute,” said Jason Senn, Consultant Project Engineer at the Montana Department of Transportation. “Public input helps shape every project at MDT. No idea for making this roadway safer is too big or too small for us to consider in this phase.”

The earliest that the Highway 84 project would be considered for construction is 2026.
