MSU Football Recruit Folabi Akanbi Dead At 17

Such tragic news.

17 year old Folabi Akanbi, the 6'5", 290 pound offensive lineman, who signed a letter of intent to play football at Montana State Universityl, died of an apparent heart attack today in Texas.

He was playing basketball with friends at the time.

Akanbi wanted to study chemical engineering, and chose MSU based on it's educational opportunities.  His family is from Nigeria.

MSU Head Coach Rob Ash had this to say, in a prepared statement:  “Our hearts go out to Folabi’s family and friends, and his teammates and coaches. He was a wonderful young man who captivated everyone he met, and had such an incredibly bright future. This tragedy leaves us without words to properly express our sorrow.”
