I grew up down south where we didn't have mountains, but we did have humidity and tornado's. I first came to Montana in my early 20's and fell in love, I knew it was the place I wanted to be.

It' seems that I'm not the only one who loves the mountains of Montana.

The folks over at Travel and Leisure Magazine decided to compile a list of the Top 10 Best Mountain Towns in the United States and to no one's surprise, Montana made the list. However, what may come as a surprise is how many times Montana made the list.

Before we reveal which Montana towns made the list, lets check out the most expensive towns to call home here in Montana.

Which Montana mountain towns are the best?

According to Travel and Leisure, when it comes to the 10 Best Mountain Towns in the United States, Bigfork, Bozeman, and Whitefish all make the list. So where to they rank and are any of the three in the Top 5?

When it comes to the rankings, The first Montana town on the list is Bigfork which takes 10th place. Bigfork is right on Flathead Lake and offers all the adventure, yet still has a small town feel.

Next on the list is Whitefish.

Whitefish is ranked 8th on the list and has been named "the friendliest town in America". Much like Bigfork it offers all kinds of adventure year round and is located near Glacier National Park.

Finally, there is Bozeman. Not only did Bozeman make the Top 5, Bozeman is ranked first on the list. What makes Bozeman so great? Well, there is all of the outdoor activities, Montana State University, a good economy, and plenty to do and see.
