I don't talk politics very often, as I find that it accomplishes nothing.

I mean, you're either going to agree with me, which means I don't have to try and change your mind, or you won't agree with me, which means I will have to try and change your mind. Let me ask you this, has someone that you don't agree with politically ever changed your mind?

Yeah, me either.

However, I did come across something that I found interesting. It appears that some states take more federal dollars than others. So, you might be asking yourself, where does Montana rank in all of this?

How much federal money does Montana receive?

According to the data, Montana receives just over 5 billion dollars a year, so where does that rank us on the Top 10? That puts us at 7th. Let's take a look at the list below:

  • South Dakota - 2 Billion
  • Vermont - 2.7 Billion
  • Wyoming - 3.1 Billion
  • North Dakota - 3.8 Billion
  • New Hampshire - 4.1 Billion
  • Maine - 4.9 Billion
  • Montana -5.1 Billion
  • Idaho - 5.2 Billion
  • Delaware - 5.3 Billion
  • Alaska - 5.3 Billion

So, other than not taking a lot of federal funding, what do these states have in common?

Well, the first thing that pops out is that they aren't all that populated. I'm guessing that has something to do with the amount of federal dollars they receive. With less people that equals less money for social security and Medicare. Education is another program that receives federal funding, and with a lack of population, means less dollars received
