Bozeman Man Arrested; Charged With Cruelty to Animals
A Bozeman man, Allen Bostic, was arrested over the weekend for killing a cat by slitting its throat. The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a residence on Stucky Road on Saturday for a domestic disturbance.
A woman called 9-1-1 to report that her boyfriend had killed her cat and was attempting to throw her out of their trailer. She told a deputy when he arrived that her boyfriend had come home that afternoon after having had back surgery. He was drinking and taking pain medications and when their cat peed on his bed, the boyfriend became angry and took the cat outside where he slit its throat.
An argument ensued, and the woman said she was scared she was going to be beaten. She deployed bear spray as a defense. According to the arresting report, the deputy found evidence at the scene that corroborated her story. When the deputy contacted Bostic, he admitted to killing the cat, but said that it was he that had been punched and kicked in the face.
Bostic was arrested and charged with Cruelty to Animals and Partner Family Member Assault.
