If you have been in Montana for any time, you know we aren't fans of major publications talking about how cheap or fantastic it is to live in our state. Places like Bozeman, Missoula, Big Sky, and Whitefish are constantly picked for best of lists and more.

One thing all Montanans know is we have some stellar ski areas. There are some excellent ski resorts and local areas that locals and tourists flock to during the winter season.

If you love skiing, snowboarding, or cross-country skiing, Montana has some of the best areas for these activities. Or so we thought.

USA Today is putting together its 10 Best Reader's Choice Awards for the ski season and has several categories, including Best Snowboarding Mountain, Best Ski Bar, and more.

So what's the problem? Out of 10 categories, Montana is only on three of these lists. Which ones? Let us tell you.

How did Montana not have more nominations? There are so many ski areas, bars, hotels, and more that deserve recognition. It's unbelievable Montana didn't have at least one nomination on each of these lists.

Even though we are bent out of shape about these nominations, many locals are probably happy. This means tourists won't be overcrowding some of the best ski areas this winter.
